World Mental Health Day is observed on 10 October every year, with the overall objective of raising awareness of mental health issues around the world and mobilising efforts in support of mental health.
Mental Health is a person’s psychological – social wellbeing. This includes how we manage stress, emotions, actions, thinking, learning and relating to people. The subject of mental health has always been a misconception where the society has been given the impression that mental health is used to label those who have mental disorders. The term mental disorder describes one who has mental issues that requires consistent medical assistance.
We celebrated the annual World Mental Health Day by organising a festival with the theme “A Kaleidoscope of Minds” on 13 October 2018 at Suria Sabah Shopping Mall. We collaborated with hospitals, private practitioners/centres and civil society organisations (CSOs) to conduct exhibits, therapeutic activities and mental health fitness for the general public.
