Part A : Foundation to Understand Children with Disabilities
Empowering Teachers & Trainers

This workshop is organised in partnership with C.H.I.L.D. Sabah, Majlis Perkhidmatan Masyarakat Sabah (MPMS) and UNICEF Malaysia, and comprises of two parts:

Part A: Foundation (27th to 28th November 2017 – Two Days)
1. The knowledge to understand and teach Children with Disabilities;
2. To comprehend various services that are available in Sabah for Children with Disabilities;
3. The role of Clinical Psychologist in helping Children with Disabilities;
4. How to identify a child with disabilities in your classroom;
5. Speech Therapy;
6. Music Therapy;
7. Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP);
8. Physiotherapy;
9. Occupational Therapy and Sensory Integration;
10. Educational Kinesiology;
11. UNICEF’s Convention on the Rights of a Child;
12. Disability Equality Training (DET).

Part B: Disability 101 (20th January to 24th February 2018 – Five Saturdays)
1. Autism (20th January 2018);
2. Dyslexia (27th January 2018);
3. Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD) / Attention Deficit Disorder (3rd February 2018);
4. Classroom Management (10th February 2018);
5. Down Syndrome and Cerebral Palsy (24th February 2018).

Objectives of the Workshop
1. The knowledge to understand and teach children with disabilities;
2. To comprehend various services that are available for children with disabilities in Sabah;
3. To be aware of the different intervention and approaches available in Sabah;
4. To familiarise with UNICEF’s Convention on the Rights of a Child;
5. To be able to identify children with disabilities in your class or group.
